Acker’s Letter to Richland Parents

Dear Parents,

It is with mixed emotions that I am writing this to inform you all that I will not be returning next year as your Assistant Principal. I have been provided the opportunity to serve as the Elementary Principal of Fayette Academy, and with much consideration, I have accepted this position. While I am excited and nervous to begin this next journey, I am deeply saddened that I will be leaving my Richland family. Working with you all in the capacity as both a teacher and administrator has been such a positive and joyous experience. I have created so many lifelong memories and will truly miss each and every one of you. I have been touched by my experience at Richland and have learned a great deal from all of you. If you had asked me 6 months ago what my future foretold, I would have said at least another 10 years at Richland. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t seize the opportunity that has been presented to me. I can only hope all that I have learned will help me make the decisions and changes necessary to make Fayette Academy as wonderful as Richland. While there is so much more I feel I should say, this is one of the rare moments I am finding myself at a lost for words. Just know that you all hold a very special place in my heart, and I will always be there for you. Richland is family, and this family will always be there for one another. With that being said, I would like to leave you with a quote that exemplifies how I feel:

“Sometimes, I forget to thank the people who make my life so happy in so many ways. Sometimes I forget to tell them how much I really do appreciate them for being an important part of my life. Today is just another day, nothing special going on. So thank you, all of you, just for being here for me.” -unknown

Even through good and hard times, Richland has always been a happy place for me. I wake up every morning looking forward to working with the teachers, students, parents, and community. It has truly been an honor and a pleasure serving you and your children. I will miss them all dearly.

Respectfully,

Josh Acker

Assistant Principal
